Stonewards Resource & Drop Locations Cheat Sheet
Quick-reference cheat sheet for Stonewards mining resources: where to find wood, stone, iron, gold, emeralds, diamonds, chest rooms, and the pink wall layer.
Last verified: September 24, 2026 — Game version: Stonewards Early Access 0.2.2 hotfix on top of 0.2.0 “Later Summer” (current). Facts come from official Steam sources and verified player reports.
Mining is the engine of every Stonewards run. Different resources spawn in different cave layers and walls, and some only appear once you reach the deeper sections. This cheat sheet lists each resource, where it appears, and what it is used for.
Resource Location Table
| Resource | Visual / Layer | Known Uses |
|---|---|---|
| Wood | Timber-like brown deposits, often near the surface and crafting camp | Craft arrows, repair materials, and early forge offers |
| Stone | Grey rock; the most common wall material | Wall repairs, forge offerings, early upgrades |
| Iron | Metallic veins, common in mid-depth tunnels | Forge upgrades, weapon crafting/repair |
| Copper | The metal some Dungeon props are supposed to drop | Uses are not documented in patch notes; 0.2.0 fixed some Dungeon props dropping Iron instead of Copper |
| Gold | Yellow-gold veins, deeper and rarer | Character upgrades and “drinks” (community gameplay, 33:13) |
| Emerald | Green gem veins in deeper rock | High-tier upgrades (community gameplay, 17:16) |
| Diamond | Rare pale/blue-white gem veins in the deepest sections | Top-tier upgrades; exact layer not confirmed |
The Pink Wall Layer
The most important visual cue in the mine is the pink wall layer. Reaching it means you are in the current best resource zone:
- Better ore density and rarer gems.
- Higher chance of treasure/chest rooms.
- The community refers to it as the target zone for efficient runs (community gameplay, 01:25).
Chests & Loot Rooms
| Chest Type | How to Find | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Chest | Visual/audible cues through nearby rock (community gameplay, 00:19; 02:05) | Can increase item drop multiplier for the rest of the run (community gameplay, 02:46) |
| Golden Chest | Deeper loot rooms; rare spawn (community gameplay, 11:33) | Higher-tier loot than normal chests |
| Chest Opener NPC | Found in the hub; haul chests back to him (community gameplay, 01:27) | Opens treasure chests for you |
Recycling Camp
If your inventory is full, the Recycling Camp lets you break down old weapons and tools for resources instead of throwing them away (community gameplay, 13:24; 26:56). Gold and better gear should be ferried back when possible.
What Changed Since Hotfix 0.1.5
- Copper is the intended drop from some Dungeon props. 0.2.0 fixed props dropping Iron instead of Copper, so if a prop pays out, Copper is the correct resource.
- Recycling in the Dungeon gives the correct resources (0.1.7). If you recycled loot underground before that patch, you were not getting full value.
- Common Treasure Chests cap Tomes lower (0.2.1). A normal chest pays out fewer Tomes than it did at launch.
- Mark your tunnels. The Crafter can build wooden direction signs (0.2.0), and the Compass Range tome joined the pool in the same update — both are practical for deep runs where losing the path costs a wave.
- Terrain collisions are safer (0.2.0). Extra ground-detection checks target falling through terrain and being teleported into nearby cave rooms while mining.
Farming Tips
- Dig straight toward the pink layer instead of clearing every side tunnel early on.
- Listen for chest rooms while mining — they make enough sound to be heard through rock.
- Ferrier role: designate one teammate to carry chests and rare materials back while the others keep digging.
- Recycle old weapons before grabbing replacements so you do not waste inventory slots.
