Stonewards Weapons & Tools: Bow, Arrows and Melee Gear

Weapons and tools in Stonewards: bows needing wood arrows, melee weapons, passing gear between players, and crafting tips from Early Access runs.

8/19/2026 Last updated: 9/24/2026

Last verified: September 24, 2026 — Game version: Stonewards Early Access 0.2.2 hotfix on top of 0.2.0 “Later Summer” (current). Facts come from official Steam sources and verified player reports.

Weapons in Stonewards are class-dependent and resource-gated. The bow requires arrows made from wood, while melee weapons are more immediate but can be passed between teammates.

Patch note (0.1.7): Crossbows are now playable. They arrived with the Hunter/Companion buffs and Poison/Fire damage now scaling with attack damage — check the current forge list before choosing a weapon.

Patch note (0.2.0–0.2.2): new weapons arrived with Later Summer (Mace, Legendary Bow, Legendary Small Axe, Double Small Axe), the Rogue can dual-wield, and Artificer Bombs now scale with the Artificer’s Attack (0.2.0) and take critical hits and the Berserker buff (0.2.2).

Bow and Arrows

  • Not every class starts with a bow. One player said “Oh, I don’t start with a bow” and another handed one over (community gameplay, 30:37).
  • Arrows are crafted from wood. “You used all the wood possible to make an unlimited amount of arrows” (community gameplay, 41:53).
  • Running out of arrows makes the bow useless. Always keep a steady supply of wood flowing to the crafter.
  • Players can carry extra arrows and pass them: “I have the bow. All right, here. Just hold this. I got arrows for you” (community gameplay, 30:37).

Melee Weapons & Tools

  • Basic melee (pickaxe/hammer style) is available to miners and warriors.
  • Special items like “Tower Shield” appear as drops or craftables and are called out in combat (“TOWER SHIELD”) (community gameplay, 34:55).
  • Weapons can be dropped on the ground and picked up by others. “I gave you my weapon because I’m so weak” (community gameplay, 18:47).
  • Heavy attacks consume stamina. Charged swings do more damage but cost stamina.

Weapons and Tools Since Hotfix 0.1.5

  • Crossbows became playable in 0.1.7, arriving alongside the Hunter companion buffs and Poison/Fire damage scaling with attack damage.
  • 0.2.0 widened the pool: Mace, Legendary Bow, Legendary Small Axe and Double Small Axe were added, and the Rogue can now use dual-wield weapons.
  • Artificer Bombs became a proper weapon line. 0.2.0 made bomb damage scale with the Artificer’s Attack; 0.2.2 gave bombs the same damage calculations as other weapons, critical hits and the Berserker buff included, and stopped them colliding with carriable objects.
  • Ranged gear was retuned repeatedly. 0.1.6 slightly reduced Archer ranged and charged attack damage; 0.1.8 made Staff rarity correctly affect Healer healing and Mage damage; 0.2.1 fixed Bonus Projectiles failing with magic staves below 100% chance.
  • Companions behave more like a weapon now: 0.2.2 lets companion kills critical-hit and drop Gold, and stopped the companion chasing enemies outside the playable battle area.

Passing Gear Between Players

Stonewards supports dropping and handing items. This is especially useful in co-op:

  • Give the bow to the player best positioned to use it.
  • Pass arrows to the ranged class.
  • Drop weapons for a downed teammate to pick up after revive.
  • One player can focus on mining while carrying resources, while another holds the best combat gear.

Crafting & Maintenance

  • The crafting camp is where arrows and some tools are made.
  • Recycling old weapons at the Recycling Camp gives resources back instead of wasting inventory slots.
  • Always craft arrows during the inter-wave period.

For resource locations, read the resources drop locations guide. For builds that use specific weapons, see the upgrade cheat sheet.
